Tax content can cost people real money when it is wrong. These are the rules we follow for every calculator and guide.
1. Primary sources first
Every tax figure (rates, thresholds, deadlines, mileage rates) must come from a primary source: the Internal Revenue Code, IRS publications and form instructions, revenue procedures, IRS announcements, Treasury regulations, the Social Security Administration, or official state revenue departments. News articles and other websites can point us to a change, but we confirm it at the source before publishing. Each page lists its sources at the bottom.
2. Written for drivers
Pages are written by Jin Jeong, who drove full time for delivery apps from 2019 to 2026. We write for people reading on a phone between orders: short answers first, details after, and real dollar examples instead of abstract rules.
3. Calculators are tested
Calculator logic is kept in one shared engine with automated tests. Worked examples on our pages are produced by that same engine, so the text and the tool cannot disagree. The formulas are published on our methodology page.
4. Dates and review
Every page shows the date it was last updated. We re-check all figures each January when the IRS publishes the new year's numbers, and whenever a law or IRS announcement changes something mid-year (as happened with the July 2026 mileage rate).
5. Corrections
If we get something wrong, we fix it, note the change on the page, and record it on our public corrections log. We do not quietly edit mistakes away.
6. Use of AI tools
We may use software, including AI writing and coding assistants, to help draft text or code. Nothing is published without a human checking every tax figure against its source and confirming that examples match the calculator output.
7. Independence and money
GigTaxHQ may earn money from advertising and from some affiliate links. Advertisers and partners never see articles before publication and do not influence which products we mention or how we calculate anything. See our affiliate disclosure.
